Redskins Place Safety Montae Nicholson on Reserve/Non-Football Injury

Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson’s season is over after the team placed him on the reserve/non-football injury list. Nicholson was arrested and charged with assault and battery and drunk in public Tuesday in Loudoun County, Va.Ā 

Nicholson is accused of assaulting a man near an establishment early Tuesday morning. A female with Nicholson was also charged after her involvement in the incident. According to a police report, Nicholson along with the lady honked a horn of a car at a man and female and then approached and assaulted the two.Ā 

A video emerged via TMZ Sports of the incident in which it appeared Nicholson throwing punches before flooring the victim with a brutal punch.Ā 

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden announced Wednesday that Nicholson was not going to play in Saturday’s game against the Tennessee Titans. And the team will still gathering information to determine Nicholson’s playing status for the remainder of the season.Ā Later, the team placed him on NFI list, effectively ending his season.

Nicholson, 23, played in 14 games this season, starting seven. He had 41 tackles.
