While domestic violence charges were dropped against Reuben Foster, the Washington Redskins linebacker is still subject to disciplinary actions from the NFL.

The NFL released a statement regarding Foster’s case stemming from a Nov. 24 incident while he was with the San Francisco 49ers.

There is speculation surrounding the situation between Foster and his ex-girlfriend, who accused Foster of breaking her phone and then slapping her in the face at a Tampa Bay hotel where the 49ers were staying.

It’s not unprecedented that league would suspend a player despite charges not being filed or dropped. Ezekiel Elliott was suspended six games in 2017 for violating the league’s personal conduct policy after domestic violence accusations. The Dallas Cowboys running back was never charged and denied wrongdoing.

Foster served a two-game suspension in 2018 while with the 49ers stemming from marijuana and gun possession charges.
