The Washington Redskins maintained optimism that recently claimed linebacker Reuben Foster would able to play for them. So much so, they had already assigned him a locker and the jersey number 50.

Note the number could change and given the off-season moves of the Redskins, but for now it’s 50.

According to Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post, Foster has been around Redskins Park facilities.

Domestic violence charges against Foster were dropped this week, stemming from a Nov. 24 incident with his ex-girlfriend while he was with the San Francisco 49ers.

He was later waived by the 49ers and claimed by the Redskins. Washington was the only team to place a claim and immediately received backlash for their decision. It was his second arrest for domestic violence within the year with the same alleged victim. Charges in the February incident were also dropped.

While Foster is cleared legally, he remains on the NFL’s Commissioner’s Exempt List where he has been since the Redskins were awarded their claim. It’s unclear if he is subject to any disciplinary actions from the league.

His pending addition will bolster the talent-level at inside linebacker for the Redskins that currently includes Mason Foster, Zach Brown, Shaun Dion Hamilton, and Josh Harvey-Clemons.
