It appears Washington Redskins linebacker Zach Brown is not happy with a few Redskins’ writers. It’s still not obviously clear what his issue is, but it appears he’s upset because they use a quote that came from him.
Brown was quoted by the Athletic saying the Redskins are not respected in essence because of their treatment of players who voice their frustration, in particular the team cutting D.J. Swearinger after the safety criticized defensive coordinator Greg Manusky and the culture of the team.
“You can clearly see, they don’t want guys that hold players accountable. If you notice, no one except one person disagreed with D.J.’s comments that players aren’t being held accountable. Should he have said it the way he did? Nah. Was he wearing people out with the way he was going about it? Hell yeah! But it’s true. I see why our organization is disrespected. They get rid of the people that actually care, and are trying to create a winning culture.”
The writers credited for the article are Tarik El-Bashir and Rhiannon Walker. Burgundy Blog, a Redskins insider, tweeted the quote from the article and that drew the ire of Brown. Brown responded with a profane tirade through Twitter.
Warning: Profanity and Vulgar Language

Brown’s questioning of when he said the quote, prompted Burgundy Blog to explain he pulled the quote from the Athletic.
Despite being rated the third-best linebacker in the NFL by Pro Football Focus, Brown had a disappointing end to his season. He split time with rookie Shaun Dion Hamilton with Hamilton starting the last four games of the season.
Brown signed a three-year deal worth $24 million last March, however, he is a possible cap causality as Washington would save $5.75 million if they cut the talented linebacker.
With Hamilton playing well in the final four games, Brown has said he sees “the writing on the wall” that his time with the Redskins is limited. Head coach Jay Gruden has since disputed Brown’s claims.
