Presented another opportunity to give his opinion, DJ Swearinger ripped his former head coach Redskins’ Jay Gruden in an Instagram comment for his mediocre approach.

Swearinger didn’t mince words as he explained why he feels Gruden will never coach the Redskins to consistent winning.

Swearinger was released on Dec. 24 after being critical of defensive coordinator Greg Manusky following a Week 16 loss that ultimately led to eliminating the Redskins from playoff contention. Swearinger had been critical of the team’s practices and how they were coached throughout the season, and warned by Gruden to cease the public lashings prior to his final tirade that led to him being waived.

Swearinger was claimed by the Arizona Cardinals and will enter the final year of his three-contract. Meanwhile, the Redskins are moving on and trying to improve after back-to-back 7-9 seasons.

Gruden will enter his sixth year as the Redskins’ head coach with one division title and one playoff game under his belt. His approach to the team has not been fruitful, and while that’s only one factor in many to why the Redskins have been stuck in mediocrity, their failure to improve will ultimately stain Gruden’s reputation. Especially, when former players like Swearinger, talk about the way Washington practices.
