Bryce Harper is now a member of the Philadelphia Phillies leaving a large portion of Washington Nationals spurned. As the 26-year old is set to make his first return to Nationals Park as a visitor Tuesday, emotions will run high.
For Washington, DC mayor Muriel Bowser those emotions may have got the best of her. Monday a tweet of a picture depicting Harper as Benedict Arnold surfaced on the official Twitter account of Mayor Bowser. The tweet was deleted about 30 minutes later.
Harper’s departure has drawn reaction from bitter Nationals fans. Even after a new report has surfaced detailing how the Nationals ownership essentially ushered Harper to Philadelphia with deferred payments through 2072.
Nonetheless, Mayor Bowser drew eyes on her with the questionable image. Hopefully, Nationals fans can brace their feelings for the next 13 years as Harper plays on the opposite side of Nats-Phillies rival.
