The Washington Redskins are doing their due diligence on the top quarterback prospects in the upcoming NFL Draft. As they line up meetings with potential first-round candidates, the Redskins will be meeting with Duke standout Daniel Jones next week, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington.

The Redskins met with Missouri QB Drew Lock Wednesday. They’ve also met with West Virginia’s Will Grier and attended the Pro Day of Ohio State’s Dwayne Haskins.

Jones measured at 6-foot-5 and 221 pounds at the NFL Combine in February. Jones is considered the No. 4 quarterback in this year’s draft class, per CBS Sports.

The Redskins have the 15th pick overall. With the potential of Kyler Murray, Haskins, and Lock being already selected in the top-13 picks, Jones is a strong possibility for the Redskins if they are considering quarterback at No. 15.

Jones played in 11 games last season for Duke, completing 60.5 percent of his passes for 2,674 yards and 22 touchdowns against nine interceptions. He is considered as an above-average runner at quarterback. In three seasons at Duke he rushing for 1,323 yards and 17 touchdowns.

Jones played under QB guru David Cutcliffe, who also was credited for the early development of NFL great Peyton Manning.

Many speculate the Redskins will consider a quarterback with a rookie-scale contract as a long-term solution. However, team president Bruce Allen has been lukewarm on the idea publicly saying Washington doesn’t have to draft a quarterback.

They acquired veteran journeyman Case Keenum in a trade last month with Denver. They also have Colt McCoy returning to the team while last year’s starter Alex Smith rehabs his broken leg that may jeopardize his future playing career.

Five quarterbacks could potentially be selected in the first-round or second-round according to many draft analysts. Washington will have met with all by the draft. The Redskins have also been linked to Arizona Cardinals quarterback Josh Rosen, as the Cardinals think about selecting Murray with the No. 1 overall pick.
