Kyler Murray was set to meet with the Washington Redskins this week, however, that seems to no longer be the case.
According to Steve Wyche of NFL Network, Murray will no longer be meeting with the Redskins this week. It has long been speculated Murray could be drafted No. 1 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in next week’s NFL Draft. Meanwhile, the Redskins, who have the No. 15 pick overall, have been meeting with an array of top quarterback prospects with the exception of Murray initially.
The two sides eventually scheduled a meeting for this week, leading to many speculating either a free fall in the draft for Murray or the Redskins were considering moving up in the draft.
Murray cancelling may be an indicator that he knows he will be taken high in the draft and will be out of reach of the Redskins. Wyche also reported the Cardinals have not decided on who they will draft with the first overall pick.
If the Cardinals do select Murray, speculation is they will look to trade last year’s first-round pick quarterback Josh Rosen. The Redskins are also linked to Rosen.
If the Redskins don’t land Rosen in a trade, they are expected to draft a quarterback early next week. They’ve met with Dwayne Haskins, Drew Lock, Daniel Jones, Will Grier, and Jarret Stidham which all are potential first and/or second round candidates.
