Lo and behold, the Washington Redskins have become a media circus just hours ahead of the 2019 NFL Draft. With last-minute reports surfacing of the Redskins targeting former Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins and the team trying to trade into the top-5 of the first-round, comes a predicting but still mind-boggling bit of news.

According to Grant Paulsen of 106.7 the Fan, Redskins owner Dan Snyder has “taken over the first round of the draft.”

That makes sense to the new desire of having to grab a quarterback they want in the first round, and making a huge splash to ensure it by trading up in the draft.

As Paulsen noted, the last time Snyder was notably involved in the selection of the Redskins’ first-round pick was 2012, when they traded the farm to move up and take quarterback Robert Griffin III with the No. 2 overall pick.

The Redskins are in need of a long-term solution at quarterback with Alex Smith’s devastating leg injury currently halting his playing career. Colt McCoy and Case Keenum are presumably viewed more so as stop-gap solutions. And McCoy’s immediate future is in doubt as well as he has underwent three surgical procedures on his broken leg.

Still, is that need worth paying a heavy price to move up?

If Snyder is indeed involved more so than the usual owner is, than it’s safe to presume the answer is yes. Redskins fans won’t have to wait long to find out how all this plays out as the first-round of the NFL Draft is set for Thursday.

But, this latest development will certainly stir the pot among Redskins fans.
