The Washington Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes are headed to overtime after the two teams are tied at 3-3 at the end of the third period.
The Capitals had their fair share of opportunities to score. None may have better than the opportunity they had with just over two minutes remaining in the third period. Tom Wilson’s shot leaked past Carolina goaltender Petr Mrazek into the goal crease.
Unfortunately for the Capitals, and to amazement of the Hurricanes and their fans, as Hurricanes forward Brock McGinn swiped the puck away before it could cross the goal line. His effort momentarily saved the Hurricanes’ season at the very the least, helping send the decisive Game 7 into OT.
