The hits keep on coming for the Washington Nationals. And no not on the diamond but in the training room, as they suffer yet another key injury. The club announced Saturday they’ve placed outfielder Juan Soto on the 10-day injured list retroactive to May 1 with back spasms.
The Nationals have called up outfielder Andrew Stevenson from Triple-A Fresno in a corresponding move.
Soto joins Anthony Rendon, Trea Turner, and Ryan Zimmermon on the IL. That’s four prominent bats out of the lineup at the present moment.
Soto had missed the previous three games and underwent an MRI to ensure it wasn’t more than back spams and to rule out an oblique injury that was initially feared.
Soto was hitting .248/.368/.467 with six home runs and 22 RBIs.
