The Washington Nationals have struggled through the first quarter of the season, however, Anthony Rendon has not. The third baseman has been consistent throughout the season, and red hot the past week.
With his team trailing 4-0 against the New York Mets, Rendon cut into the deficit with a solo home run to lead off the fourth inning Monday.
Rendon got on top of a sinker from Mets’ starter Wilmer Font.
Rendon’s ninth homer of the season extended to hit streak to seven games.
Rendon drew a walk in his first plate appearance of the night and another in his third. He is seeing the baseball well right now. If only his success at the plate can be contagious throughout the team.
The Nationals have stumbled out of the game with a 19-26 record entering Monday’s game. With no foreseeable end to the team’s woes, Rendon’s name has come up in trade rumors if the Nationals are sellers this year ahead of the trade deadline.
