Juan Soto is establishing himself as one of the best young players in Major League Baseball. Friday, the 20-year old crushed a solo blast that reached the upper deck of Detroit’s Comerica Park.
The second inning blast was his 14th homer of the season and gave the Washington Nationals an early 1-0 lead.
As rookie in 2018, Soto finished second for the National League Rookie of the Year. This season he is having no sophomore slump, entering Friday’s game hitting .301/.398/.533.
The blast was also his 52nd RBI on the year. As the Nationals are enduring life after Bryce Harper, Soto’s emergence has made it much easier to handle.
