The Washington Wizards announced Thursday that forward CJ Miles will undergo surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot.
The surgery will be performed by team doctor Dr. Martin O’Malley in New York Thursday afternoon.
Miles will be re-evaluated in six weeks following the surgery.
āOur medical team has done a fantastic job of proactively diagnosing C.J.ās condition and establishing a treatment protocol,ā Wizards GM Tommy Sheppard said in a statement. āHe will continue to be a positive influence on our team as he works through his rehab and weāre looking forward to getting him back on the court when he is healthy.ā
The Wizards acquired Miles in a July 6 trade for center Dwight Howard.
Miles, who will be owed $8.73 million this upcoming season, missed the final 29 games of last season with a stress reaction in the same foot while with Memphis.
Interestingly, CJ Miles told reporters at a charity event earlier this week, he was 100 percent and that he had passed a physical with the Wizards with no red flags, according to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports Washington.
Hopefully, addressing the matter with surgery will eliminate further issues, as Miles enters a pivotal contract year with a new team.
