VIDEO: Redskins’ JoJo Wicker, Tyler Catalina Spark First Fight of Training Camp

With the temperature rising, the tension wasn’t too far behind Tuesday, leading to the first fight of the Washington Redskins training camp.

An exchange between defensive lineman JoJo Wicker and offensive lineman Tyler Catalina led to a melee of sorts between the Redskins offense and defense.

Catalina took exception to Wicker’s aggression, leading to the two exchanging punches before defensive tackle Tim Settle jumped into the brawl, dropping Catalina.

Chaos ensued before matters were eventually settled down.

The calm was only momentary, as safety Montae Nicholson and tight end Jeremy Sprinkle had a quick mix-up that did not thrill head coach Jay Gruden, according to Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post.

Following practice, Sprinkle alluded to Sunday’s domination by the offense as a possible reasoning for the defense having so much tension Tuesday.

“I think (the defense) wanted to fight today because we (the offense) did good in the last practice that we had, Sprinkle said per Michael Phillips of the Richmond Times-Dispatch.

With Monday being an off day, the defense apparently was seething about how Sunday’s practice went and wanted to set the tone. It’s only been five practices and already the two units are sick of one another.
