Amid his holdout that has stretched a full week, Trent Williams has told people close to him he is prepared to sit out the entire 2019 season, according to 106.7 the Fan’s Craig Hoffman.

This comes as the Washington Redskins apparently are unclear on what Williams actually wants. According to Hoffman’s team sources, Williams hasn’t given any demands to specific changes of the team’s medical staff and his side has remained silent in the team’s attempts to negotiate a new contract.

Williams is currently in Los Angeles trying to get in shape following multiple surgeries for the growth on his scalp.

The standoff between Williams and the Redskins stems from, but not limited to, Williams believing the team’s medical staff misdiagnosed the growth on his head that had to be surgically removed after he visited a personal doctor.

Also, Hoffman’s notes Williams also had issues with the medical staff’s handling of his thumb and knee injuries over the course of the past two seasons.

Williams’ holdout has been a distraction from training camp. The Redskins have scrambled to bring in depth at left tackle in lieu of Williams’ absence, signing Donald Penn and Corey Robinson to go along with 2018 third-round pick Geron Christian.

Since Williams’ holdout became public when he did not report to mandatory mini-camp in June, numerous reports surfaced. Many backing and/or adding a new detail to the saga.

Earlier Thursday, the Washington Post reported Williams’ relationship with the Redskins began to strain when they opted to draft Christian over a more pressing need. The latest medical mismanagement surrounding his head was the last straw and Williams demanded a trade on June 1.

However, the team denied the request and Williams then asked for a new contract, ultimately leading to this standoff.

Can money fix resolve the matter and bring Williams back to the team?

The Redskins are hoping the fines they have assembled to Williams each day for skipping training camp will force the cornerstone left tackle to report.

Both Hoffman and the Washington Post reports says Williams has been responsible with his finances. And with the latest that he is telling friends he would sit out the season, strongly suggests money is not an issue.

Trent Williams appears to have drawn a line, and its hard to imagine what the end game is behind it. And thus, the saga continues with no foreseeable end in sight.
