Maryland football head coach Mike Locksley announced Monday wide receiver Chris Jones, linebacker Nnamdi Egbuaba, and defensive tackle Cam Spence have been medically disqualified and are no longer part of the team.

Neither will count against the 85-player scholarship limit.

Jones and Spence will remain with the program as student assistants. Meanwhile, Egbuaga will finish his master’s degree in supply chain management.

Spence was a four-star recruit in the Terps’ 2017 class. He attended Gilman, St. John’s (DC), and IMG Academy in Florida throughout his high school career. Unfortunately, he battled through multiple knee surgeries throughout his time at Maryland.

Jones was a DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, MD) standout, who originally committed to Wisconsin. He then walked on at Maryland in 2016 after spending a season at Iowa Western Junior College. In three seasons, he did not record a catch at Maryland.

Egbuaga had eight tackles in 2018 after missing the entire 2017 season with an injury. He appeared in 10 games, recording 13 tackles throughout his career with the Terrapins.
