Training camp is over, but the Trent Williams holdout is not. Reports have suggested Williams does not intend to return and suit up for the Redskins anytime soon. Meanwhile, the Redskins still have no intention of trading the seven-time Pro Bowl left tackle.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Redskins have told multiple teams this summer, they are not trading Williams.

And thus the standoff continues.

Apparently team president Bruce Allen and the Redskins are willing to wait this out or at the very least take a hard stance. Where this goes depends on what truly is the issue.

If Williams is definitely upset and lost trust of Redskins and its medical staff, it’s hard to imagine what the Redskins can do to soothe things over. Multiple analysts believes a new deal could bring Williams back. A report suggests Washington plan to use fines to get Williams to come back. Another report says Williams won’t back off his stance even with the fines.

If the Redskins are truly unwilling to trade Williams, there is no indication they are even willing to soothe things over or just sit on the situation and call Williams’ bluff?

A John Keim report earlier this month suggests the Redskins would trade Williams if they are convinced he won’t come back by late August.

Either way, as the Redskins prepare for their second preseason game, Williams and the Redskins beef is still overshadowing their off-season. Through all the back and forth reports and rumors, all that is left to do is wait and see how things play out.
