Washington Capitals Vice President of Communications Sergey Kocharov is one million dollars richer after winning the prize in a Powerball drawing last month. Virginia Lottery announced his winnings last week.
Kocharov recalls that he purchased the winning ticket while grocery shopping at Harris Teeter on King mill Lane in Annandale, Virginia.
“I saw the Powerball sign and said, ‘I may as well try it,’” Kocharov told valottery.com.
According to the website, Kocharov bought five tickets on Jul. 27. His winning ticket matched the first five numbers just missing the jackpot on the Powerball number.
The Harris Teeter he purchased his ticket from received a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
No word on the specifics how he will use his money, however, no fret Capitals, Kocharov says he will be return to work.
