All eyes were glued on Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins after his struggling NFL debut a week ago in Cleveland. Thursday against the Cincinnati Bengals, the first-round pick delivered a glimpse of what the Redskins and their fans have all been looking for.

Entering midway in the second quarter, Haskins delivered a 55-yard bomb to Robert Davis on his first drive of the game.

Haskins stood tall in the pocket amid heavy pressure from his left side. And with just a flick of the wrist, the ball came out on target to a streaking Davis for the explosive touchdown.

He appeared to alert the nickel blitz, allowing left tackle Geron Christian to sweep outside to pick him up. As the line rotated it’s blocking, Haskins understood he had to get the ball out to beat the free rusher and he did, perfectly.

The pass drew a great big smile from head coach Jay Gruden and warmed the hearts of scores of Redskins fans looking for a glimmer of hope.

The velocity and accuracy that Dwayne Haskins can deliver may be unmatched among the other Redskins quarterbacks. He may have to wait his turn to take over the keys of the Redskins offense, but there’s no question his ceiling is very high.
