The Washington Redskins have a tentative plan for running back Derrius Guice to play in Thursday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Monday that Guice still has not been cleared for full contact, but should be soon “just waiting for the green light,” according to ESPN’s John Keim.

Guice tore his ACL in last year’s preseason opener that ended his rookie season before it truly got started. His rehab was slowed by an infection following his initial surgery, requiring three additional surgeries.

Guice returned in time for the start of training camp, but has not been cleared for full contact. The Redskins have kept him out of the preseason thus far until he receives clearance.

Guice, Washington’s 2018 second-round pick out of LSU, is expected to be an integral part in the Redskins’ backfield alongside Adrian Peterson and Chris Thompson. Thursday’s game against Atlanta will be Washington’s dress rehearsal before the regular season.

Seeing Guice in action, and seeing if he can withstand contact before the start of the regular season will be a huge plus for the Redskins.
