Fresh off the heels of Redskins team president Bruce Allen proclaiming Trent Williams will play this season for the Redskins, former Washington corneback DeAngelo Hall is saying the opposite.
While appearing on the Athletic’s “Hail to the Pod” podcast Thursday, Hall claimed he spoke with Williams shortly after Allen’s comments and that the Pro Bowl left tackle has no plans of rejoining the Redskins ahead of the start of the regular season against Philadelphia.
“I reached out to him and he’s like, ‘Man there’s zero chance I’ll be in that building next week,'” Hall said of Williams. “I talked to him and he’s like ‘Nah, I’m not showing up. We haven’t talked. We haven’t addressed the issues.'”
While Allen has remained optimistic about Williams’ situation, various reports have stated otherwise.
At this present moment all that those interested can only go by what the reports say and/or what Allen has stated, because Williams has yet to make a written or verbal statement regarding his holdout. The only statement he has made has been visual, in the terms of not being with the Redskins.
Washington does not seem content on moving on from Williams, despite the fact his actions have suggested he does not want to be with the team.
Veteran Donald Penn has been tabbed the starting left tackle in absence of Williams. It’s an absence that barring a development in the 11th hour, that apparently will linger into the regular season.
