Max Scherzer will be in the Hall of Fame someday. His resume is already stacked and growing. Wednesday, the Washington Nationals’ ace became the second pitcher in MLB history with eight straight seasons with at least 200 strikeouts.

Scherzer struck out Baltimore Orioles third baseman Rio Ruiz on a nasty cutter.

Tom Seaver, who had nine straight seasons, is the only other player to accomplish the feat Scherzer has. Then again not many have stacked together the resume he has. Scherzer is one of six pitchers to win a Cy Young in both the American and National League.

Scherzer, who ranks third in the National League in strikeouts this season, finished Wednesday’s game with eight strikeouts in rout to a 8-4 win for the Nationals over their AL rival Orioles. His career strikeout tally is now at 2,649 which is 25th all-time.
