Stephen Strasburg collected an NL-best 16th win on the season. The Washington Nationals pitcher struck out 14 while retiring the last 22 batters he faced in a 7-0 win over the Miami Marlins, Saturday. He did so without throwing a walk in eight innings.

Strasburg becomes the NL leader in strikeouts as well with 215 k’s on the season momentarily surpassing the Mets’ Jacob deGrom.

Strasburg also continued his dominance over the Marlins in the process.

While most of the spotlight shines on his teammate Max Scherzer, who still leads the NL in strikeouts per nine innings, but Strasburg has shined in the shadows. He has been just as dominant all season.

Washington improved to 76-58 on the season and are in the top NL wild card spot. And Stephen Strasburg is one of key reasons they are focused on playing October baseball.
