The Washington Nationals have caught steam and seemingly not going to cool off anytime soon. The Nationals have been tearing through Major League Baseball since May 24. While dismantling the Miami Marlins to complete a three-game sweep Sunday, the Nats had some fun reenacting the classic opening scene of “Lion King.”
Things got started when center fielder Victor Robles held manager Davey Martinez up coronation him just as Rakifi, the animated mandrill, held Simba, the soon-to-be king of the jungle.
As the Nationals continued to tact on the runs in a 9-3 win, Robles and company continued hoisting teammates as Juan Soto and Adam Eaton are held for coronation much like Simba.
Safe to say the Nationals are enjoying baseball. They are now 58-27 since May 24, transforming from a 19-31 record into 77-58. They are 7.5 games ahead in the National League wild card and 4.5 games for home-field advantage in the one-and-done playoff game.
