Could Trent Williams end his holdout? Former teammate-turned-NFL analyst DeAngelo Hall says the left tackle could return to the Redskins, ending his holdout, “sooner rather than later.”

Hall went into depths about the Williams’ ongoing saga while appearing on the Athletic’s “Hail to the Podcast” with Erin Hawksworth.

Hall said that Redskins president Bruce Allen told him to ask Williams, “Tell me who to fire and I’ll fire them.”

Hall said Trent responded by saying, “Man, I don’t want to cost nobody their job. I don’t want to put anybody’s livelihood in my hands.”

Last week, while appearing on “Hail to the Podcast” Hall suggested that he could mediate a much-needed conversation between Allen and Williams. That was after the former cornerback said there was “zero chance” Williams would return before Week 1 of the regular season.

Hall says that it’s a better chance Williams will return to the team before Week 10 when it is required for him to get an accrued season.

To recap, Williams skipped mandatory mini-camp, OTAs, training camp, and the entirety of the preseason. Reportedly, Williams took issues with how the Redskins’ medical staff mishandled the diagnosis of a cancerous growth on his scalp. He requested a trade or release from the Redskins ahead of mini-camp, but was shut down by Allen.

Hall gave insight about what Allen’s opinion may have been of Williams’ trade request.

“Bruce simply said, ‘You don’t ask for a trade in mini-camp. You ask for a trade in January, February before the draft. That’s when you ask for a trade.'”
