The Redskins released its first injury report of the season, containing several key injuries heading into their Week 1 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Cornerback Fabian Moreau (ankle) and quarterback Colt McCoy (fibula) did not practice.

Others to appear on the Redskins injury report are defensive lineman Caleb Brantley (foot), linebacker Cassanova McKinzy (concussion) and Jordan Reed (concussion). Each were limited. The good news is inside linebacker Shaun Dion Hamilton (chest) and wide receiver Paul Richardson (quad) were full goes in practice.

Fabian Moreau

Moreau was in a walking boot two weeks ago after he sprained his ankle in a practice back on Aug. 18. Previously, Redskins head coach Jay Gruden had expressed optisism their was a chance Moreau could play in Week 1, however, he had a different tune Wednesday. He told reporters Moreau was “probably a long shot” at this point to play against the Eagles, according to JP Finlay of NBC Sports.

Both rookie Jimmy Moreland and veteran Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie would most likely fill the role of slot corner if Moreau is unable to play.

Colt McCoy

McCoy has been ruled out for Philadelphia this week. He is still bothered by is leg that he injured last December. He did not play during the preseason and recently visited foot special Dr. Robert Anderson to check on progress, according to Jay Gruden (h/t John Keim).

Still In Concussion Protocol

Both Reed and McKinzy were limited while still in concussion protocol. Reed is the more pressing matter, considering he is the star pass catcher within Washington’s offense.

Reed did take part in meetings and did some work in individual drills. He was a victim of a helmet-to-helmet hit from Atlanta Falcons safety Keanu Neal in Week 3 of the preseason. This is Reed’s seventh documented concussion since 2010.

McKinzy suffered his concussion in the preseason finale against Baltimore. He is expected to be the Redskins’ fourth outside linebacker.

Caleb Brantley

Brantley has been bothered by a Lisfranc injury. It’s unclear if he will be able to play Sunday, however, the team signed Treyvon Hester with Brantley’s injury in mind earlier this week.

On Pace to Play

Richardson practiced Wednesday and Gruden said the Redskins’ No. 1 wide receiver is “on pace” to play Sunday, according to Matthew Paras of the Washington Times.

Hamilton has been hampered by a chest injury he suffered in Week 1 of the preseason against Cleveland. However he was a full-go in practice. When healthy, he is tabbed as the starting Mo linebacker inside next to Jon Bostic.
