Washington Redskins quarterback Dwayne Haskins grew up in New Jersey before his family moved to Maryland where he played high school football at Bullis High School. In New Jersey, Haskins built a special bond with Atlanta Falcons Mohamed Sanu, a fellow New Jersey native, a former high school quarterback.
The uncle of Haskins’ best friend, Sanu has been a mentor for Haskins throughout his playing career going back before high school.
Recently, Sanu appeared on Bleacher Report’s “Ditch the Playbook” with Adam Lefkoe, in which the Falcons wideout tested off his throwing arm in front of a Madden adjuster. Sanu reached 71.5 yards which was further than his own QB Matt Ryan, and other greats including Tom Brady and Russell Wilson.
This prompted the Redskins rookie to challenge his mentor in a throw contest.
“Teacher vs. student,” Haskins wrote on Twitter to Sanu. “You been ducking me for years.”
This isn’t the first time Haskins has put out the challenge. He did so previously following Sanu’s viral Twitter video of him airing the football in the backyard.
Dwayne Haskins, himself, has a canon of a arm. One that has flashed and got Redskins fans excited throughout training camp and preseason. Haskins will start the 2019 season backing up Case Keenum in Washington, but he is eager to beat his teacher, showing off his arm in the process.
