Friday, John Wall turned 29 years of age. The Washington Wizards guard celebrated with friends and family that included teammate Bradley Beal. The scene was the La Vie in southwest DC.
Beal gave Wall a toast, calling the six-time all-star his brother.
“Everybody count us out, doubting us every year. That’s my brother, man,” Beal said via the shared video from Wall’s friend.
Beal said he appreciated the invite as part of Wall’s circle.
There has been much of nothing made about the two teammates’ relationship over the eight seasons they’ve been together with the Wizards. Wall once admitted the two didn’t get along on the court at the beginning of their pairing and the national media blew it up into a narrative that has hung over the two no matter how successful they’ve been together.
Their future together may be in jeopardy, as Wall is expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season as he recovers from a ruptured Achilles he suffered in February. Meanwhile, Beal has yet to accept a three-year $111 million max extension the Wizards reportedly offered him this summer.
Beal has two years remaining on his current deal, but with Wall being out expectations for the Wizards are low and trade rumors have surfaced for the talented shooting guard.
Aside from that the two remain friends and close despite what some in the media say and fans perceptions.
