When the Washington Redskins drafted wide receiver Terry McLaurin, it was clear they had much more than what many thought. Since arriving, the former Ohio State Buckeye has wooed his coaches, the media, and fans. So much so, the team opted to cut ties with 2016 first-round bust Josh Doctson.

Sunday, McLaurin made his NFL debut against the Philadelphia Eagles, starting at wide receiver for the Redskins and he did not disappoint. The rookie in his first game had five receptions for 125 yards and a 69-yard touchdown.

First game, first 100-yard game. Already McLaurin has more 100-yard games than Doctson ever had in three seasons in Washington. That’s right, Doctson never topped 84 receiving yards in the 33 games he played with the Redskins.

While the Redskins fell short 32-27 to the Eagles, McLaurin showed he is indeed as good as advertised.

Whether it was by displaying his blazing speed or his ability to take the football out of mid-air from the grasp of a defender, Terry McLaurin is the real deal. Hopefully, for the Redskins have hit on a drafted wide receiver. They’ve had quite a bit of misses through the years, laminated by the failure of Doctson.
