Washington Redskins cornerback Quinton Dunbar did not practice Thursday as he deals with a knee issue, according to ESPN’s John Keim. Dunbar’s absence in practice comes a day after he was limited.

Dunbar had eight tackles in Week 1 against the Eagles but appeared on the injury report Wednesday. Last season, Dunbar missed nine games with a nerve injury in his shin.

In addition to Dunbar, cornerback Fabian Moreau remains limited as he tries to work his way back on the field with an ankle injury. Also, safety Montae Nicholson is dealing with a foot injury that landed him on the injury report Wednesday.

That’s three prominent members of Washington’s secondary who status is unclear as the Redskins gear to host division rival, the Dallas Cowboys.

Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said Friday was a “big day” in determining the health of the secondary, as they prepare for the Cowboys.

Dallas is coming off an impressive win, albeit against the New York Giants. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott threw for 405 yards and four touchdown while completing 25-of-32 passes. He connected with seven different receivers, including 13 going to wide receivers Michael Gallup and Amari Cooper for a combined 264 yards and a touchdown.

Rookie corner Jimmy Moreland is expected to get any increase in workload depending on the health of Dunbar and Moreau. In Week 1 against the Philadelphia Eagles, Moreland played predominately in nickel in the slot. He may be needed to play on the outside more this week, according to Gruden.
