With their secondary banged up heading into Week 2, the Washington Redskins are going outside for depth at cornerback. The Redskins have signed cornerback Aaron Colvin, formerly of the Houston Texans. The team announced Friday afternoon.

The Redskins also officially placed running back Derrius Guice and defensive lineman Caleb Brantley on injured reserve. Additionally, made official the signing of wide receiver Robert Davis from their practice squad.

Colvin, 27, signed a four-year $34 million contract with the Texans in 2018 after four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, his time was cut short when Houston released him Sept. 10 after the Texans’ 30-28 loss to New Orleans on Monday night. In that game, he allowed eight catches on nine targets, including a Ted Ginn catch that setup the game-winning field goal.

Colvin played 11 games with Houston recording just one pass deflection and 29 tackles. He was unable to duplicate the success he had with the Jags.

Now, he will have an opportunity to redeem his career with the Redskins, who are hurting at cornerback this week.

Starter Quinton Dunbar is bothered by a soreness in his knee. He missed practice Thursday and Friday and is listed as questionable on the Redskins’ injury report heading into a divisional contest with the Dallas Cowboys.

Slot corner Fabian Moreau, who missed Week 1’s loss to the Eagles, is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game. He has been hampered with an ankle injury since Week 2 of the preseason.

The Redskins also have Josh Norman, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, rookie Jimmy Moreland, and recently signed Simeon Thomas available at cornerback.
