Dubbed the “Practice squad Julio Jones” Washington Redskins wide receiver Robert Davis is ranked No. 1 this week in CBS Sports’ practice squad player power rankings.

In the piece by Chris Trapasso, there is a peak at the nearly identical measurements of Davis and Jones — height, weight, 40-time, vertical, broad jump, and three-cone.

Davis initially made the Redskins’ 53-man roster. However, he was waived a day before the season opener against the Philadelphia Eagles last week. He went unclaimed and Washington re-signed him to their practice squad.

Davis is essentially the sixth wide receiver on the team behind Paul Richardson, Trey Quinn, and rookies Terry McLaurin, Kelvin Harmon and Steven Sims Jr.

Davis was the Redskins’ little secret, but this national piece certainly puts him on notice to those interested. Hopefully, and not due to any injuries, the kid from Georgia State gets to show he is more than a preseason stud.

Jeremy Reaves Made the List Too

Davis is not the only member of the Redskins practice squad to crack the rankings. Safety Jeremy Reaves came in at No. 4.

“Reaves was everywhere for the Redskins in the preseason, and his collegiate career at South Alabama foreshadowed his multi-faceted skills at the safety position. The No. 141 overall prospect on my 2018 Big Board — and No. 13 safety — went undrafted after registering at least 85 tackles in each of his final three years with a grand total of eight picks, eight forced fumbles, and 22 pass breakups in those seasons.”

Reaves got beat out for the fourth safety spot on the team by 2018 fourth-round pick Troy Apke in large due to special teams. Yet, Reaves showed his range and ability to make stops during preseason. Thus showing he could be a diamond in the rough at safety.

Washington is retooling with a youth movement across the board. As long as no one is able to pluck away both talents from the practice squad, both Davis and Reaves could be contributors in the progression of the Redskins.
