The coronation is finally here. Elena Delle Donne was named the 2019 WNBA MVP. It’s the Washington Mystics star’s second MVP of her career, winning the award in 2015 while with the Chicago Sky.

Delle Donne received 41 of 43 first-place votes.

She led the Mystics to the best-record in the WNBA this season with a 26-8 record, the best season in franchise history. They were 26-5 in 31 games she played in.

Delle Donne averaged 19.5 points and 8.3 rebounds. She also became the first WNBA player to join the 50/40/90 club, as she shot 51.5% from the field, 43.0% from three, and 97.4% from the free throw line.

Elena Delle Donne joins Cynthia Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes, Lisa Leslie, Lauren Jackson, and Candace Parker as players who have won multiple WNBA MVP’s.

She is looking to guide the Mystics to their second straight Finals appearance in hopes of their first WNBA title in franchise history. And an MVP hasn’t changed her focus on that.
