The Washington Redskins announced Tuesday evening they have released defensive lineman TY McGill and waived center Casey Dunn.
McGill was signed prior to Week 2’s game against the Dallas Cowboys, as Jonathan Allen was forced to sit out the game with a knee injury. Allen worked his way back onto the field in Monday’s loss to the Chicago Bears, as McGill was a healthy scratch.
Now that Allen appears to be back in the saddle, the Redskins no longer need the services of McGill. Thus, they are moving on from him.
Dunn was waived from injured reserve. He was placed on IR after being waived with an injury destination in July. Last season, he appeared in two games after signing with the team in December due to a rash of injuries on their offensive line.
McGill’s release will open a spot on the Redskins’ 53-man roster. It’s not known who Washington had in mind to fill the spot.
