Bryce Harper was not happy about the heckling he received from Nationals fans during Wednesday night’s game. He hinted the heckling was personal, but did not go into details of what was said. Thursday morning his wife, Kayla, responded saying Nats fans mentioned their infant son.
Washington fans are upset at Harper leaving the Nationals to join their rivals the Philadelphia Phillies. Tuesday, the Nationals eliminated Harper and his new team from playoff contention, clinching their own playoff berth in the process. The joyous fans were excited and happy to let Harper know what he missed by signing his mega 13-year deal, however, the heckling went too far in the Harpers’ eyes.
Harper has been public enemy No. 1 for many baseball fans. At one point he was the target of heckling from Phillies fans when he played with the Nationals. Now, he is a target of the Nationals fans.
That’s fine. Fans can heckle, but they have to keep it classy.
