For the third consecutive week the Redskins offense failed to muster any consistency, as they fell to 0-5 after being blown out by the New England Patriots 33-7. The Redskins managed a meager 220 yards of offense. Following the game running back Adrian Peterson was none too happy about the offensive game plan.
Peterson’s burn echoed what many detractors of Jay Gruden have long argued, that the team is not properly prepared.
The Patriots entered Sunday’s game the top-ranked defense in the league, and they took a simplistic approach against the woeful Redskins. The Patriots defense sacked quarterback Colt McCoy six times, and held him to 2.3 yards per pass attempt.
Bill Belichick has been recognized as a defensive mastermind but he didn’t take much of a complex approach stopping the Redskins. This development just adds to the fuel of Gruden’s days being numbered in Washington.
