WATCH: Max Scherzer Gets Stoked After Getting Out of Bases Loaded Jam in 7th

Max Scherzer emptied the tank in the seventh inning to drop the curtain on a stellar night for the Nationals ace with a 6-1 lead over the Dodgers in Game 4 of the NLDS.

After loading the bases with one out, Scherzer got Chris Taylor to strike out on a full count, eight-pitch, pinch-hit at-bat for the second out.

Then he got Joc Pederson to ground out to end the inning unscathed. Scherzer was stoked as a packed Nationals Park erupted in cheers, as he walked off the mound.

Scherzer finished the night allowing one run — a Justin Turner home run in the first inning — four hits and three walks while striking out seven on 109 pitches.

Max Scherzer was not going to be denied his moment. Not after he past postseason struggles that has haunted his otherwise Hall of Fame career.

He also was going to finish what he started, especially given the struggles of the Nationals’ woeful bullpen. That moment as he walked back to the dugout signified the Nationals’ season was not yet dead.
