Who else could the Nationals call on to deliver a huge three-run home run, than Ryan Zimmerman?
“The Franchise” delivered with three-run blast to break open the Nationals lead in Game 4 of the NLDS to 5-1 over the Dodgers. He crushed a 1-0 fastball off Dodgers reliever Pedro Baez to clear the bases.
With the Nationals elimination, Game 4 could be Zimmerman’s final game in a Nationals uniform.
The club’s first draft pick since relocating to Washington, DC has battled through injury-played years in five of his last six seasons. That includes him being limited to 52 games this season due to plantar fasciitis.
There’s speculation given he is due a non-guaranteed $18 million in the final year of a six-year, $100 million deal next season, that this season will be his last with the Nationals.
With his three-run blast in the fifth, Zimmerman showed he is not quite ready to close the door on his Nationals career.
