A day after being waived by the Redskins, outside linebacker Cassanova McKinzy has signed with their practice squad.

McKinzy was waived Monday to make room on the 53-man active roster for tight end Hale Hentges. Washington is in dire need for a tight end with both Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis in the concussion protocol.

McKinzy played in three games this season, registering one sack in Week 1. He has been dealing with a hip injury in recent weeks. Noah Spence, who the team signed two weeks ago due to McKinzy’s injury, has replaced him in the OLB’s rotation.

The Redskins are fortunate to retain McKinzy where fourth-year pro will be able to continue his development.

Hentges went undrafted in 2019 out of Alabama. He signed with the Colts and made their 53-man roster. However, he was waived Oct. 5. The Redskins claimed him off waivers Monday.

The Redskins also released defensive back Deion Harris and linebacker Chris Odom from the practice squad. Washington signed guard Malcolm Bunche in addition to McKinzy in corresponding moves.
