While the Redskins were taking down the Dolphins in the “Tank Bowl,” two former Redskins were doing battle in the “Weakest Link Bowl” between Eagles linebacker Zach Brown and Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins. A day after Cousins made him eat his words, Zach Brown was released by the Eagles.
“Cousins, I think every defense is going to want that guy to throw the ball,” Brown said Friday per ESPN.com’s Tim McManus. “For me, that’s probably the weakest part of their offense is him. Everything else is good. They’ve got a good running game, probably one of the best in the league. They have real good receivers. You just want them to pass the ball. You want Kirk Cousins to get it in his hands.”
On Sunday, Cousins completed 22-of-29 passes for 333 yards, four touchdowns and one interception. The Vikings routed the Eagles 38-20 for Minnesota’s fourth win of the season by at least 18 points.
Following the game Brown said he did not want to talk about Cousins.
On Monday, Brown was no longer a member of the Eagles.
Brown spent two seasons with the Redskins and while he racked up a boat load of tackles, struggled in pass coverage, and ultimately was released by the Redskins following last season.
For Cousins, well we know Cousins’ story. After two years of being franchise tagged by the Redskins, Washington moved on after it was apparent they couldn’t meet Cousins’ high salaried demands. He signed with the Vikings in 2018. And while his time in Minnesota hasn’t been as fruitful as they wanted, he gets the last laugh over his former teammate.
