Juan Soto is one of the Washington Nationals’ biggest stars. Yet, he is just 20 years of age. With his 21st birthday still a few days away, he was forced to drink sparkling cider instead of champagne during the Nationals’ celebration of clinching the franchise’s first trip to the World Series.
The team went out its way to keep the celebration legal. At the point of going to your first World Series before your 21st birthday in just your second season in the big leagues, Soto presumably doesn’t mind. He’d celebrate with just about anything.
With World Series set to start Oct. 22, and Soto’s birthday is Oct. 25, he’ll get a chance to pop the real stuff if the Nationals wins the title.
If he didn’t have motivation enough, Soto may can channel this moment to helping the Nationals finish an improbable run.
