Landon Collins has been quiet to the casual eye through the first five games of the season. The Redskins safety wasn’t quiet in their first win of the season, earning him NFC Defensive Player of the Week.

Collins had 12 tackles, including 10 solo stops, a tackle for loss, one sack, two passes defensed against the Miami Dolphins in a 17-16 win.

Collins finally had an obvious dominant game in a Redskins uniform. He signed a six-year deal worth $84 million with $44.5 million guaranteed as a free agent this off-season. That’s after four seasons with the New York Giants.

This is Collins’ fourth NFC Defensive of Player of the Week honors. His previously three honors were as a member of the Giants.

He has been one of the bright spots on a struggling Redskins defense. This season he has 55 tackles, 39 solo, along with four tackles for losses, one sack, and two passes defensed.
