WATCH: The Moment Nationals Clinch World Series Berth

If you’re a Washington Nationals fan, just hit play and enjoy the moment. Daniel Hudson getting St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Tommy Edman to fly out to center, as Victor Robles tracked it down and gloved the final out, clinching the Nationals first World Series berth in franchise history.

It was a moment to cherish. It made the 2012 Strasburg shutdown worth it. The collasal collapse in Game 5 of the NLDS against the Cardinals at Nationals Park. The 2014 let down against the San Francisco Giants. The 2016 NLDS loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 2017 NLDS loss to the Chicago Cubs.

It was part of the Nationals’ history, but it is not in the past. The 2019 Nationals battled back from 19-31 start, to climb into the top NL Wild Card with 93 wins.

They rallied against the Milwaukee Brewers in the Wild Card game. They came back from a 2-1 series deficit against the Dodgers to advance past the NLDS for the first time since the team moved from Montreal to DC in 2005.

Then they steamrolled the Cardinals in a four-game sweep. The celebration is on in the nation’s capital as they await the winner of the ALCS between the Houston Astros and New York Yankees.
