The Washington Redskins won’t have much time to wallow after their muddy and sloppy 9-0 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. They will turn around and fly to Minnesota to face the Vikings on Thursday Night Football.
Sitting at 1-6 there’s no doubt they’ll be underdogs. But, the line the game opens at is insane. The Redskins open 15.5-point underdogs against the Kirk Cousins-led Vikings.
Thursday will be a reunion of sorts. Cousins gets to face his former team, that he didn’t want to play for or that didn’t want him at the price he yearned, depending on who is asked. Also both Redskins quarterback Case Keenum and running back Adrian Peterson will face their former team, the Vikings.
The Vikings are 5-2 and in second-place of the NFC North, riding a three-game winning streak.
The records and direction of each team isn’t the only factor in the large point spread. All five of the Vikings’ wins have been by at least 12 points. They beat the Falcons by 16; Raiders by 20; both the Giants and Eagles by 18; and the Lions by 12 on Sunday.
Minnesota is also undefeated at home.
Meanwhile, Four of the Redskins’ six losses have been by double digits with an average margin of defeat of 14.1 points per game.
