Anthony Rendon showed a national audience why many refer to him as “Tony Two Bags.”
The Washington Nationals third baseman delivered a two-run double off Houston Astros starter Justin Verlander in the first inning for the early 2-0 lead.
Trea Turner led off the game by drawing a four-pitch walk. Then Adam Eaton singled to deep left. That setup Rendon, who gave the Nationals a two-run lead before their first out.
Verlander settled down getting out the inning without further damage. But it’s clear for the moment, the underdog Nationals have momentum early in the World Series.
