Washington Redskins safety Montae Nicholson is cooperating with Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office surrounding the death of a 21-year woman.

According to TMZ, Nicholson and another man dropped off the young lady at an emergency room in Ashburn, VA and immediately left the area. The woman arrived unconscious and unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead. Officers believe she may have died of a drug overdose.

Nicholson has been nursing an ankle injury that has kept him out of the last two games. He was absent from Thursday’s practice which is said to be due to the investigation of the young woman’s death.

The Redskins are aware of the situation and released a statement.

ā€œWeā€™ve been made aware of the tragic event and extend our deepest sympathies to the family who lost a loved one,ā€ the teamā€™s statement said. ā€œOur team has alerted the league office and is cooperating with local authorities. We fully support law enforcement and respect their process as they investigate the matter.ā€

Nicholson has not been charged with any crime, but police will likely speak to the Redskins safety as part of the investigation according to the report.
