Dwayne Haskins’ rookie season is effectively over after the Washington Redskins quarterback has been ruled out of the season finale at the Dallas Cowboys with a high ankle sprain. Redskins interim head coach Bill Callahan announced the news Monday following an MRI on Haskins.
Haskins had his ankle rolled on as he was sacked on the opening drive of the third quarter Sunday against the New York Giants. Haskins stated he wanted to return despite being carted off the field, but encouraged by owner Dan Snyder to not return to the game following the team’s doctor diagnosis.
Haskins has seemingly progressed throughout the season. In Week 15’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Ohio State product threw for a career-high of 261 yards and two touchdowns.
Sunday against the Giants, he completed 12-of-15 passes for 133 yards and two touchdowns before he was injured.
Dwayne Haskins finishes his first season in the NFL completing 58.6% of his passes for 1,365 yards, seven touchdowns and seven interceptions. He also had a passer rating of 76.1 He was sacked a total of 29 times in nine games (seven starts).
Certainly his numbers and play improved each start. There is a lot of positives to build on from his play for next season.
