Ron Rivera is set to be in Redskins Park to meet with owner Dan Snyder on become the next Washington Redskins head coach. According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Rivera’s interview is “more of a coronation” and all signs point to him being hired.

According to Rhiannon Walker of The Athletic, Rivera “doesn’t expect to leave” Redskins Park until a contract is complete with the team.

The Redskins are hitting the reset button on the direction of the team. Early Monday morning, owner Dan Snyder fired longtime and embattled team president Bruce Allen, removing him completely from the organization. Redskins fans and media have been calling for his dismissal in recent years after a series of disappointing and drama-filled seasons under him.

The team is expected to make more front office moves, but Rivera is at the top of Snyder’s to-do list. Rivera is a well-respected coach around the league, and could be sought after if there is any setbacks in negotiation with the Redskins.

Ron Rivera posted a 76-63-1 record in nine seasons as the Carolina Panthers head coach. The Panthers won three NFC South division titles under Rivera and an NFC championship, appearing in Super Bowl 50.
