Redskins Reportedly Hiring Scott Turner as Offensive Coordinator

The Washington Redskins are hiring Scott Turner to become the team’s offensive coordinator, according to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

Turner is the son of former Redskins head coach Norv Turner.

Scott joined Ron Rivera’s staff in Carolina as a quarterbacks coach while his father was offensive coordinator. Turner replaced his father as offensive coordinator following Rivera’s firing in December.

Turner has also been a QB coach with the Cleveland Browns and Minnesota Vikings.

The report of Turner’s hiring with the Redskins came shortly after it was reported Washington granted 2019 offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell permission to talk to other teams.

Turner will be tasked of furthering the development of 2019 first-round pick, quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Haskins progressed in his final three games after early struggles.

Many expected O’Connell would return to the Redskins despite the hiring of Rivera. But, nearly a week after interviewing with Rivera, O’Connell is parting ways from Washongton.
